The title of this blog post is actually the slogan of the French cuisine restaurant “Poulet”. There are currently eight Poulet outlets islandwide, and the one at which I dined is at Raffles City.
The meal in the picture is “Poulet Roti with Mushroom Chardonnay Sauce”. Being a noob in the French language, I check it up and realise that ‘poulet’ means chicken, while ‘roti’ (nothing to do with the Malay word roti) means roast.
I had not planned to dine at the restaurant, but then the waitress at the entrance called out with a smile when I walked past. Having walked past several times before, I finally caved in and decided to try out the “amazing french roast chicken”.
The waiting crew are pleasant and prompt, and they do check on you to see if the food is acceptable, or if you need anything. The poulet roti I ordered came quickly after I settled down, and looks mouth-watering. My first spoon is the sauce, and the rich creamy chardonnay sauce and the button mushroom bits are simply heavenly. Just my type of sauce.
Next, the chicken. Tender and soft, easy to cut, and tastes like what an amazing roast chicken should be. A perfect marriage of chicken and sauce. While devouring the rest of the chicken, I browse through the menu and there are many chicken variations such as “Poulet de Cranberry”, “Poulet Diane” etc. There are of course other dishes like “Ratatouille” (a traditional French stewed vegetable dish), “Duck Au Vin” and the unmistakable Burgundy escargots.
I shall return to try out the other dishes on the menu that I didn’t have the chance to try on my first visit.
